Richmond, KY
The Glyndon Hotel is a proposed 36-unit hotel development located in the heart of Richmond, Kentucky. Originally constructed circa 1892, the current building sits on the site of an earlier hotel and has long been a landmark on Main Street, at a time when guests would arrive by horse and buggy or train. Over the years, the Glyndon Hotel has served the Richmond community in a variety of capacities, including housing a drugstore, barbershop, tailor shop, and restaurant. In recent years, the hotel has been in need of significant restoration. With a deep respect for the building’s history and past uses, our proposed renovation aims to rejuvenate both the hotel and in return the surrounding downtown Richmond area. The goal is to create a vibrant and welcoming space that celebrates the building’s rich heritage while embracing modern design and functionality. On the ground floor, we plan to create a dynamic experience for both visitors and locals. The design includes a speakeasy-style bar and restaurant, a fully operational brewery complete with brewing equipment, and a restored reception area that blends historic charm with contemporary design elements. These spaces will serve as a hub of activity, helping to activate the area and contribute to the region's growth. The upper floors will house 36 bespoke guest rooms and suites, each thoughtfully designed to honor the building’s architectural character and historical significance. We’ve carefully preserved and incorporated key historic details throughout the design to emphasize the Glyndon Hotel’s legacy within the community, which spans nearly 150 years. In addition to architectural preservation, we’ve integrated artwork, furniture, and artifacts from the building’s past, including the renowned Daniel Boone painting and the iconic neon Glyndon sign. This renovation not only revitalizes a historic building but also enhances the cultural fabric of downtown Richmond, offering a unique experience for both guests and the local community.
