Everyone knows the legend of the abandoned subway tunnels under Central Parkway—well, the City of Cincinnati recently requested ideas for their adaptive reuse. This kind of project is the one reason we became architects - to help. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to serve as a hub for training youth in key trades, including plumbing, electrical systems, welding, carpentry, and automotive maintenance. Beyond its primary educational mission, the facility will also serve the broader community, providing participating organizations with an invaluable opportunity to engage with and inspire the next generation of skilled professionals. Can’t wait to see it be built and serve the community.

The Doctor’s Building is a gem in the heart of Cincinnati. The conversion of the building into residential comes at a time when housing is in high demand and the commercial use of the building has really become obsolete. The remodel will provide 52 new units while still maintaining two levels of commercial space on the street. The conversion comes at an important time for the area and will hopefully breathe new life into the neighborhood.  

With the approval on the new zoning for 1564 Banklick Street in Covington the conversation of this historic warehouse into the 39 apartments can commence. As always, we honored to be working with the folks at Orleans Development. The projects we’ve completed together over the years are some of our favorites. They are catalyzing for growth and change in their neighborhoods - and they always look killer! Combining the beauty of the historic with the modern amenities we expect.

“The IRS site is returning the community back to something that’s more akin to what it was,” said Guthrie. “It’s a significant asset for Covington. The plan is to make a more cohesive community where you have offices, residential, and amenities in one space, but I’m afraid the degree of affordability might not serve most people.”

We were honored to help Revival Vintage with their expansion. We hope the new space, in the former YMCA building, will be just as unique and welcoming as some of the neighboring bars and restaurants we’ve designed. We’re looking at you Ripple, The Hannaford, and Hotel Covington! Visit Revival Vintage’s current location on 8th street until the new space at Pike and Madison opens soon!

“The potential routes are designed to complement the Metro bus service’s bus-rapid transit project, which will run along the Reading Road and Hamilton Avenue corridors, converging in Uptown near the University of Cincinnati and proceeding downtown through OTR. The ideas also seek to avoid duplicating existing bus service except where there is great economic development potential, said John Schneider, a longtime streetcar supporter.”

“Balancing the need for safety and the ability to control the classroom environment, the corridor-facing classroom walls feature switchable privacy glass – allowing the walls to go from transparent to opaque at the flick of a switch.”

The extension of the streetcar could have a big impact on how people use the Cincinnati and potentially the surrounding area like Covington, Newport, and beyond. Where do you think the streetcar should expand?

With an administration so committed to giving their students such a well designed space, its no surprise that Newport Central Catholic continues to grow and flourish. With a view like that its no wonder these kids can dream and reach for the stars!

We have unveiled a comprehensive commitment aimed at addressing racial inequality and promoting diversity. We condemn racism in all forms and stand in solidarity with the BIPOC and all communities in their fight for justice and equality.

Hub+Weber worked with Boone County Parks & Recreation (BCPR) in winter of 2022-23 to create a conceptual design for a new facility that will consolidate their staff from multiple, rundown facilities into one new location. Hub+Weber conducted multiple visioning workshops with the BCPR staff to develop the program for the new facility. The new location will provide space for the administrative, programming, intendance, landscape, and natural areas staff under one roof.

Newport Central Catholic is full of rockstars! The education and facilities they provide to their staff and students is so important to their goals. We’re thrilled they have exceeded their fundraising goals with their latest capital campaign. It goes to show their mission is clear and its working.

We really hope the KYTC takes this event into account as they continue with the design and execution of the new bridge. The people want something more - a safer and more pedestrian friendly option - that looks good, too!

We’ve taken the bridge design further in an effort to illustrate its connection to the community. Safter connections are some of the driving forces in this design and part of the reason why we and our partners are so committed to an excellent bridge design. One that serves ALL members of the community, no matter what their mode of transportation.

Who knew the IRS site could be so beautiful? We are so happy with how these conceptual renderings came out. We’re excited to see how the urban fabric actually gets stitched back together.

Look out! Kemba Credit Union has taken the crown for tallest building in West Chester with their new headquarters! What a pleasure it was to design this building for them, and we hope they enjoy the new space.

What a joy it was to help bring another Brighton Center project to life. This project, like most of their work, will have a huge impact on the lives of the residents. We are very excited to start construction on this one and see the building be transformed.

We cannot wait for the new cat cafe to open in Covington. The project has been the purrfect addition to our project list and we think it will be the purrfect addition to the Covington’s core.

So unique that it required the creation of a new type of zoning, the design of the Grote Manufacturing Building converted an historic industrial warehouse in Bellevue, Kentucky to a modern residential complex. The building was adapted for new industries throughout its history-- Colortype, vehicle parts, the Kent medicine cabinet, and most recently large-scale storage. Various additions and modifications presented design challenges for this iteration, creating completely unique floor plans for each unit, interesting volumes within the lofts and corridors, and creative fire assemblies to keep the historic structure exposed. Special attention was given to the parking layout, exterior plaza, and preservation of the warehouse windows and structure during the pursuit of State and Federal Historic Tax Credits.

One of our favorite clients is on the move again! RoadiD, who recently completed renovation of a 130 year old building, are moving next door to make way for another company to relocate to the core. The renovation of their current building at 35 W. 8th has been so catalytic that development and job creation have continue to grow in the area which, in turn, has allowed RoadiD to set their sights on renovating another building on the complex. We are so excited to see the project take shape and for the building to come to life. We hope this project, too, will help continue the dramatic change of the area.

The parking lot and vacant garage at the corner of Fourth and Greenup Streets is about to get a major overhaul. The new development will create what the owner has called “Covington’s backyard.” The development will include lots of green space, patios, outdoor bars, and food vendors. It will create a major point of attraction in a formerly under utilized lot.

Its been some time since the folks at RoadiD moved into their new space here in Covington. We are so happy to have worked on this project and welcome the transformation they have had on the central business district. Construction is underway on the new three-story facility in the heart of downtown Covington.

The new 90,000 square foot office building will allow Kemba Credit Union to expand its operations while continuing to offer excellent service to it’s clients.

The new Train Viewing Platform in Ludlow will have its great opening on Saturday, October 13th from 4 to 7 pm. The new platform embraces the materials and construction techniques of trains and train stations in its design.

The City of Covington joins the Devou Park Advisory Committee (DPAC), Devou Properties, Inc., and Devou Management Company, LLC in celebrating the grand opening.

At the Ludlow: Beyond the Curb event earlier this month, Hub + Weber Architects revealed its plans for a new mixed-use project along the railroad tracks in the city’s industrial east end. Ludlow Yards will feature residential, commercial and retail all in one spot to help create a more vibrant community.

Hotel Covington, a luxury hotel created by Aparium Hotel Group and the Salyers Group in the iconic 1910 Coppin’s Department Store, opened on Tuesday in Covington.

The building underwent a $22 million restoration led by Hub + Weber Architects and Plume Interiors + Light.

COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) - 100 years ago, it was a department store, 10 years ago it was Covington's city hall, but next week the corner of Seventh and Madison will be reborn again as the Hotel Covington. Construction of the boutique hotel project was wrapping up. It was a $21 million investment in the heart of Covington. 

The Hickory Wald Group – consisting of Andrew Salzbrun, Jack Weston and Aaron Kohlhepp – hopes to open Hannaford at Pike & Madison by mid-October. The bar is named for the famed architect who designed the building housing it as well as Cincinnati City Hall, Music Hall and the Eden Park pump house, among many other local buildings.

BURLINGTON – At the Aug. 16 Boone County Fiscal Court Meeting, the court passed a resolution to enter into a contract with Hub + Weber Architects to restore the Historic Courthouse.
